What's Up, VK Interns?

A Summer Internship for the Ages

The word is out, our Summer interns are even cooler than we imagined! They walked into our studio with fresh, creative, fun, energetic vibes and showed us all how bright they shine. Here's a closer look at their "headshot" project - one we'll remember forever!

The Multi-Talented: Liz!

"I had so much fun with this project! From the moment the team told us we'd be starting with copywriting, my creative juices started FLOWING. Ari, Rachel, and I brainstormed our group + individual slogans and it felt like firecrackers started going off!

I was proud to contribute in a way that felt authentic to my own skills. Ari and Rachel came up with shot ideas that pushed my comfort level in the best ways. It was truly a group effort led by talented creative women raising one another up." - Liz πŸ₯°

Our Hidden Ace: It's Rachel!

"Getting to experience this project through both photography and design was a great way to start the internship. With a prompt from Aaron, I leaped into creating different spreads with our new creative headshots. The concept started in the 70’s with a declarative and cheeky voice, and ended up in the 90’s, with an experimental layout inspired by fashion ads and type treatment.

I used simple shapes that were referenced in each of our layouts, nodding to the VK colors and my interpretation of its playful attitude. I loved the creative freedom that VK gave me to explore, interpret, and play. I learned how a studio works together to tackle all the different parts of a creative endeavor." - Rachel 🫒

THEE Pro Photographer:

It's Ari!

"For our portraits, we danced to some funky music and brought props that showcased our personalities. Most poses came naturally as we became more comfortable.

We let ourselves loose and embraced who we are, and I think it showed in the photos. We were in a space surrounded by fellow creatives, supporters, and hype men and women." -Ari 🫑

BTS from their
first client project!

During their second week, Liz, Ari and Rachel joined us on set with 116 & West. Liz assisted with producing, Rachel helped finesse wardrobe, and Ari jumped in as campaign + BTS photographer. To say that they killed it would be an understatement.

Liz showed her incredible organization chops and ability to hero any challenge. Rachel let her supportive nature shine alongside her eye for style and creativity. Ari was a natural at capturing the moment (and the moments between the moments - as shown through these great BTS shots).

Why is this

important?

Supporting women in production is super important to us. As our creative community in Boise continues to grow, we hope to play a small (or medium sized) role in empowering young women to choose work in creative production and see Boise as a viable place to grow their talents.

This process relies heavily on the work we do with partners and clients who emphatically embrace our approach to getting interns involved whenever and where ever possible - this provides real world experiences that can help them better understand the work we do in creative production.

Until next time..

Still Stuffed? From the Thanksgiving grub, of course! We know we are, in addition to the mounds of post-production we're tending to after a Fall chock full of productions. We're click clacking away at our keyboards, but still find the room to giggle with each other, and stay in touch with you πŸ’™. Let's dig into it! Happy (Almost) Holidays! Not sure if you all remember, but we did some pretty epic VK Holiday cards last year. If you don't, here's a little refresher. It was quite the experience...

We're Back With More VK 4 Good! Our goal with this secondary newsletter is to highlight the work of our amazing community and the ways creativity is being produced and supported in Idaho - from sitting on boards, to building programs, or producing public art projects. Each month, we'll highlight the VK 4 Good projects we have going on, or we'll talk about a local creative that inspires us. Really, we just want to spread the love our community deserves. Everyone... Welcome Maxine! In case you haven't already heard, our very own Matthew Wordell is a real life physical dad!!!! Not too long ago, Matt + Kyra welcomed their beautiful baby girl Maxine to the world and truthfully, we haven't stopped crying since (and neither has Matt). We're filled with joy and happiness for our newest member, and we can't wait until the VK onesies come in. As always, our team thrives in finding moments to love and appreciate our life, outside of the love we have...
