We had a baby!!!! + other VK news

Everyone... Welcome Maxine!

In case you haven't already heard, our very own Matthew Wordell is a real life physical dad!!!! Not too long ago, Matt + Kyra welcomed their beautiful baby girl Maxine to the world and truthfully, we haven't stopped crying since (and neither has Matt). We're filled with joy and happiness for our newest member, and we can't wait until the VK onesies come in.

As always, our team thrives in finding moments to love and appreciate our life, outside of the love we have for what we do in the studio. Here's a little taste of what we've been up to:

Making Boxes (Visually) Beautiful

This Summer, we had the opportunity to combine creative forces with our friends at Mitchell Palmer to embark on one of the biggest, most creatively exciting projects in the VK portfolio.

Our assignment was to develop a suite of brand videos for Micron Technology focused on the innovative impacts of their world class AI driven data centers. Animation hasnt traditionally been in our wheelhouse, but we’re always up for a challenge and have some incredibly talented friends to team to up with. With the help of our pal Arley Cornell as animation director, we put together a top notch team of animators from across the western hemisphere to produce a stunning piece highlighting the impacts of Micron technology. We have SO much more to say about this and we can't wait to share it, but for now, we're just enjoying the hype 🥳

Symphonies
in the Studio

Our very talented friends Thirdspace Quartet (formerly Treasure Valley String Quartet) teamed up with us to create brand assets for them in both stills and motion. Having them in our space was truly a pleasure, and it wasn't just for the free front row seat to their beautiful symphonies. Ryan tapped into his former audio engineering expertise to track live audio for the piece while Aaron snuck around the four musicians shooting beautiful stills for their upcoming seasonal promotions. The finals shine *almost* as bright as they do themselves. Motion portion coming soon!

VK Goes to Austin!

Earlier this month, Steph and Isabel traveled to good ol' Austin, Texas with the Idaho Film Society to visit with the Austin Film Society. Steph is IFS' board president and Isabel is their director of marketing + board member. They grubbed, they toured, they learned, and they're stoked about it. So much to observe from other communities who have had their start in ways similar to organizations here in Boise, and have grown in unimaginable ways.

For context, the Austin Film Society is comprised of three parts: AFS Cinema where they showcase films to their community, Austin Studios, which is a huge production space home to filmmakers and Austin Public, their public television and educational program sector. Here, they host courses for students aspiring to build a career in production and receive hands-on training.

This trip was meant to help IFS understand how to bring those opportunities to Idaho, and build our creative community here. Fun fact: AFS was started by Richard Linklater (of Dazed and Confused, or Spy Kids, as Isabel reminds us all of). Steph was pumped to take a photo in the exact spot as thee Glen Powell of Sky Kids 3D.

Ending on a Weird Note:

Aaron told us this week that Visionkit was almost named Flashranch. Yep, FLASH. RANCH. Still letting that one sink in. More to come as we process... maybe.

Still Stuffed? From the Thanksgiving grub, of course! We know we are, in addition to the mounds of post-production we're tending to after a Fall chock full of productions. We're click clacking away at our keyboards, but still find the room to giggle with each other, and stay in touch with you 💙. Let's dig into it! Happy (Almost) Holidays! Not sure if you all remember, but we did some pretty epic VK Holiday cards last year. If you don't, here's a little refresher. It was quite the experience...

We're Back With More VK 4 Good! Our goal with this secondary newsletter is to highlight the work of our amazing community and the ways creativity is being produced and supported in Idaho - from sitting on boards, to building programs, or producing public art projects. Each month, we'll highlight the VK 4 Good projects we have going on, or we'll talk about a local creative that inspires us. Really, we just want to spread the love our community deserves. VK 4 Good Projects Uplifting Communities...

Dreams Work When Teams Work.. ..and we've been werking on all fronts. The end of Summer and intro to Fall has kept us on our toes and yet, we still managed to find time to keep up with ourselves. With the addition of a couple new folks (Liz + Remy, duh) we decided to do a fresh VK photoshoot. Normally, you'd think of these as headshots, but since they're so much more than that, we like to call them ✨ portraits ✨ In true VK fashion, we cooked up a few wild ideas to try out. Ultimately, we were...
